This article is about how Maria Isabel Bueso was born in Guatemala
and when she was 7 years old, she came to the US via doctors note. She had a
rare disease and they wanted her to be a part of a clinical trial. With the
disease, the doctors concluded that she wouldn’t live past her adolescent years,
but she continued to be a part of clinical trials and has continued her life as
of age now of 24. She has been rewarded many awards due to her behalf of
working with several medical studies.
Last week Bueso received a letter saying she has 33 days to
go back home and leave the country. Last month US citizenships and Immigration
services a “deferred action” program that allowed immigrants like Bueso to stay
in the country to receive life staving medical treatment.
They don’t know what will happen to her, surely if she goes back,
she would not survive. Her doctor states in the article “If you take it away,
it will be a rapid return to her previous state. Death would be the outcome.”
There are so many people who have applied to this program
and taking it away from them has cost so many lives.
