This week I wanted to find something different when it comes to immigration. All over the news they talk about the political side, but they don’t really dive into the personal stories that immigrates have to deal with every day. I came upon this website called myimmigrationstory.com and its all about different people sharing personal stories about how immigration affects them. For example, a 16 year old girl wrote that she lives in a population that is 96% white and that it forces her to act like they act. However, she is seem as different because of her skin color. She also hasn’t seen her dad since she was 8 when he was deported. Some others talk about bringing their kids over at a really young age because they wanted a better life to build for their family. I find stories like this important because the news puts them down so often or we fight for immigration so much that these stories really put in perspective on what and who we are fighting for.
