Democrats who are running want to have health coverage for
undocumented immigrants which is big considering they don’t have access to
healthcare now. However, Donald Trump has also made it harder for legal
immigrants to get healthcare he gave the right for Medicaid to refuse
immigrants from signing up. This means that emergency rooms are mostly used for
the source of healthcare because by federal law they need to screen and
stabilize all of their patients. This article talks about the percentage of
people who are insured in 2017 and how they were covered. California has
recently become the first state for Medicaid to open up to an undocumented low
income residents under the age of 26. Since it cost a lot to ensure people when
they get sick a lot of ERs are getting reimbursed by the federal government,
specifically for the reason they are caring for undocumented and uninsured people.
